he's the king of jingling!

Plans for the Holidays:

Today, Dec. 22nd
-have free pizza for lunch at work!
-walk to eye doctor to pick up contacts ($240 worth of them -- blergh)
-get Dad/Grandmother's presents via UPS and have mini-Christmas tonight!
-take Mikaela (the beast!) and her stuff over to a friend's house after work to stay while we're gone and have dinner with said friend while Mikaela freaks out about being introduced to other cats
-pack (ugh)

Tomorrow, Dec. 23rd
-get up stupidly early to take the Light Rail down to the airport and get on a plane
-get off the plane in Washington D.C. in the evening and see family!

Friday, Dec. 24th
-late lunch at my cousin's restaurant in Annapolis, MD
-lots of merriment

Saturday, Dec. 25th
-help cook food at my Mom's house for more merriment!
-have said merriment ;)

Sunday, Dec. 26th - Frida, Dec. 30th
-hang out in Baltimore
-finish Christmas shopping and send gifts to my Dad for him, my grandmother and my Aunt/Uncle/Cousins on that side (I'm so freakin' behind it isn't even funny.)
-hang out with Leslie & Greg (her fiance) one day! (yay!)

Saturday, Dec. 31st
-get on a plane and fly back to Seattle
-drop stuff at home, get changed and go out for New Year's merriment with friends!

Sunday, Dec. 1st
-pick up cat and go grocery shopping (once our heads stop pounding)

Monday, Dec. 2nd
-actually take a moment to stop and breathe

Tuesday, Dec. 3rd
-back to work!

I might post at some point in Baltimore, I might not. Depends on how busy we are and how tired I'm still feeling. This cough is probably going to linger and I am really hoping it won't turn into bronchitis. I'm drinking lots of liquids and getting plenty of drug-aided sleep, still, so keep your fingers crossed!

In any case, here are the other three songs from our performance the other night!

{Come Together}

{The Way I Am}

{Love on Top}

Enjoy! And Happy Holidays!

check it out!

I guess I mentioned sometimes I sing with people. In front of other people.

In any case, check out this song from our last gig on Saturday night.

(fyi, I had a sore throat Thurs, Friday and Saturday, but I didn't feel too bad. Sunday and today I've been dead to the world with some form of plague that is nothing more than a horrible sore throat and a fever. Thankfully, I seem to be on the mend, though I don't have very much of a voice left after all the coughing. Oh well, no more singing til the new year!)

(that's me second from the left -- in green tights!)

If you want to check out our other songs from Saturday, go to:

Thanks for listening =)

happy holidays

I'm not going to lie to you all -- I am tired, and I don't see myself doing too much blogging between now and next year, unless that changes.

I was in Minnesota Sunday through Tuesday for a funeral, and now my body as EXCELLENT timing (per usual) and despite the fact that I cannot remember the last time I was sick, I'm getting that scratchy feeling in my throat. Just in time to have to perform on Saturday evening.

So I'm hitting it hard with Zicam, water, hot tea and chocolate. Because chocolate cures everything?

In any case, I have 400+ envelopes to stuff for work between now and tomorrow and all I want to do is curl up at home and close my eyes for a good long while. I'm just very much hoping this doesn't turn into something more than a cold.

That would just. be. perfect.

So, Happy Holidays, to all you who have been reading. I might sneak some posts in here and there, but mostly, I look forward to seeing you in the new year!

there is no rose (ten on tuesday!)

It's Ten on Tuesday time! Link up over at Roots and Rings =)

1. What are 3 things that are on your Christmas wishlist?

Some Tarte gift-sets from Sephora, some video games and a couple really expensive accessories. (I guess that's technically three types of things. Oh well.)

2. What’s your favorite Christmas song?

Coventry Carol. Or Rachmaninoff's Ave Maria, but that doesn't have to be for Christmas.

3. Do you have a favorite band or singer that sings it especially awesome?

Mmm...nope. I really just love the traditional setting of the piece, though. The King's Singers do it pretty well!

4. Have you heard about the website goodreads?

No...?

5. What are 3 books you want to read?

Well, I suppose I should finish the second book in the Game of Thrones series. Other than that, I am open to suggestions.

6. Do you hunt deer?

No. No hunting, period.
7. Have you started Christmas shopping? Are you completely finished?

Uhm...I think I have bought one Christmas present. I need to get on that.
8. Did you shop on Black Friday? What was the best deal you got?

Yup. I got a bunch of stuff at VS for pretty cheap!

9. What’s one holiday tradition your family has?

Again, we aren't big on traditions. But when we lived in Tallahassee, we used to go see a movie on Christmas Day afternoon.

10. How many blogs do you read? Do you subscribe/unsubscribe often or do you purge every once in a while?

Uhm...a lot. And I would unsubscribe, except every time I try to, Google makes it impossible for me to do so.

It's December...?!

I can't believe that. Like, really. There are less than thirty days until Christmas. Just about three weeks until I'm on a plane to Baltimore with my love to see my MOMMY (I'm kind of excited, can you tell?) and a week and a half off work.

I need to buy Christmas presents.

Crap.

Ok, so this isn't what this post was supposed to be about. It was supposed to be about this, which I stole from Lemonade Life:

December {Currently}

Current Book: American Gods. Again. It's like, the umpteenth time. I just love it so much. once I get finished with it, I'll probably switch back to the second book in Game of Thrones and read that until my brain can't handle it anymore, and I have to find another young-adult book to fend off the crazy.
Current Movie: I actually watch Jig last weekend, a documentary about several kids competing in different age brackets at the World Competition for Irish Dance. It was awesome.

Relatedly, I'm a loser.
Current Song: I'm digging the Newsies Soundrack.

Current Restaurant: BuiltBurger! Cause today is their last day =( Boo.
Current Needs: To shop for Christmas presents. I guess this means I need Christmas lists. (I'm looking at you, family.)

Current Dream Travel Destination: Hmmm...I really want to go back to the St. John before the lease for Maho is up for good. They keep extending, but who knows what will happen in the future.

Current Bane of My Existence: My office's holiday party invite list. Ugh.

Current Inspiration: I'm finding inspiration for arranging in a lot of songs I've listened to forever. Some that I even wrote off as un-arrangeable in the beginning. It's awesome! (Now I just need to sit down and do it.)

Current Favorite Blog: Digging Run, Eat, Repeat and Lariats and Lavender recently!
Current Excitement: Other than going to see family for Christmas, I'm excited about ordering my new glasses. Gonna do it super soon!

WIWW. But actually Thursday.

You can link up with a 'What I'm Wearing Wednesday' post over at The Pleated Poppy, but you probably should have done it yesterday, when it was actually Wednesday.

Not today, when it's Thursday.

Love it.

Me: Today

Sweater: Forever21 | White Tank: H&M | Jeans: Gap

fake Pearl Earrings: Forever21

Purple Flannel Toms!
(love these guys)
(though, I do wish they were waterproof.)

Ok, truth time. Here's what my hair actually looks like during the day:

Get it out. of. the. WAY.

Stylish. I know.

howl (ten on tuesday)

Oh, hello. Back into the swing of things for Tuesday. Glad it's only a four day week. So very glad.

It's Ten on Tuesday time! Link up over at Roots and Rings!

1. Do you wear glasses, contacts, or are you one of those perfect eyed people?

I am the blindest of blind. Actually, I guess the blindest of blind would actually be blind, but I have very near-sighted vision. My newest prescription (which was updated yesterday) is -7.5 in the right eye and -7 in the left. So...to actually answer the question, yes. To both. But I only wear glasses at home when I can't stand my contacts being in anymore.

2. What is the next item you are going to purchase?

...as a follow up to the first question, hopefully my new glasses from Warby Parker! Yea...finally. But I'm excited to actually have an updated glasses prescription (I don't do it very often, because I wear my contacts so often,) because it means I can wear my glasses outside of the house without having to squint at everything, anyway.

3. Have you ever watched Judge Judy or any other real court show?

For, like, two seconds. I hate that crap =P

4. How do you feel about fake nails?

They're bad for your nails! And honestly, they just bug me. I've tried them a couple times and can't get past the feeling. I run my nails into stuff too often, I'm always afraid I'm going to rip my whole nail off when I have them on.

5. What is your favorite sport to watch?

Mmm...gymnastics? Or figure skating.

6. If you could create your own Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor, what would it be and what would it be named?

It would probably be something they've already invented, but something that tastes like an almond joy would be a-ok by me.

7. Do you have any scars?

Random little ones from cat scratches, falls off my bike, etc. And then a big one from them slicing my toe open for my bunyon surgery. (Have I mentioned I'm an 80 year old?)

8. Does your pet’s name fit them? Is there a more appropriate name?

Well...I'm not sure if she's a whole lot like her name -- Mikaela. I think CrazyFace, which is what we call her half the time anyway, fits her better.
9. What is your favorite television show theme song?

I like The Big Bang Theory theme song, cause Nate and I sing it to eachother and each have our own parts to do. But I also like Friends. And How I Met Your Mother.

10. What was your favorite activity on the playground?

Our playground in elementary school was awesome, cause it was made out of giant tires that you could crawl around it. But I also enjoy the merry-go-round, until I start feeling sick.

Plenty to be THANKful for: Swap Reveal!

I'm a little late, but I've been running around all day getting as many appointments out of the way as possible. I had the dentist tell me I need a filling on a tooth that previously was filled (boo,) and I'm currently still waiting for my eyes to be fully un-dialated. It's very annoying.

But aaaaaaaanyway, the big reveal!

My swap partner was Krystal from It's Krystal...with a K. She was awesome! I got my package on Saturday and opened it IMMEDIATELY.

Goodies include:
-Awesome comfy throw
-Cool socks and scarf
-Peppermint Candies (nom)
-Pumpkin Pie Spice Coffee!
-Nifty pair of tumblers
-fancy reusable straw with lid

Awesome, awesomeness. I loved getting to know about Krystal via email (we are both over-users of exclamation points ;) and getting to send her some gifts! Plus, I have a cool new blog to read =)

Bright, Black Friday (v.16)

Hey y'all, it's Bright Friday!

It's also Black Friday.

So, imma do something a little different...

I'm probably not out shopping today.

But if I was, here are some things I'd be
punching, kicking, screaming and crawling over
politely tapping people on the shoulder people to get to!

Big, Bright, Black Friday Wishlist!

So. Many. Scarves.
(This one has POCKETS!)

A (few) good pair of trouser jeans, for work.
Since they're part of the dress code now!

Awesome skirts,
casual and not.

Really cool clutches.
You can never have too many, really.
(Reversible? Oh yes!)

Some semi-dressy dresses,
with appropriate length for work.

Maxi skirts in punchy colors,
to brightening up my wardrobe.

A whole bunch of oversized, striped sweaters.
They just feel so right.

Boots and boots and boots.
To keep the Seattle rain off my pant-legs.

Fun flats for work...

Sexy, bold heels
(for work and play...)

Sparkled heels!
Just for fun!

Swanky accessories,
so I'm sparkly...

..and chic.

And last but not least...
Oh so fabulous outer-wear,
for the cold Seattle winter!

Plenty to be THANKful for: Black Friday & Leftovers

I'm writing this on Saturday, not Friday, but Friday kind of got away from me. We got home from shopping, made food and then immediately made pumpkin pies. All while watching TiMER (actually -- a cool movie. I'd recommend seeing it!)

Also, I don't have any leftovers. We ate out, and then by the time we got home and sat around for a while, I was hungry again. So I ate my leftovers. Oops!

Black Friday haul includes:

Victoria's Secret Bras & Undies -- not pictured. Sorry, some things are still private in my world ;)

But we spent $65, so I got this tote with goodies inside!

Awesome tote!

Body mist and lotion, plus perfume and makeup primer samples!

A couple things from Forever21:

Comfy slippers -- because my bunnies are looking a little nasty.

Fabulous cape/hoodie thing. So comfy. I'm never taking it off.

Very exciting things from Office Depot: printer cartridges, printer paper and a three-hole punch.

And...

iPhone 4S! In White, with a leopard print case.

It's fancy. I thought I was going to have to wait until January to get a new one, because that's when my contract was up, but when we went into the AT&T store to ask some question about Nate getting his, they informed me I was eligible for an upgrade now! So, then I batted my eyelashes at Nate and we decided to get them.

I think for my birthday, I'm going to get this Star Trek case I've been eyeing...but I'm not sure.

I do love leopard!

Here's what I've been wearing, for What I Wore Wednesday! (You can link up over at The Pleated Poppy!) Because I went shopping two weekends ago and got too much stuff. But it's cold-weather things that can be worn to the office. This is how I justify my ridiculous spending habits.
