wee bit wednesday: the best is yet to come

{one} what's your guilty pleasure tv show?
Bachelor Pad. That's probably my guiltiest.

{two} ear piercings on men: yes or no?
Mmm...no. But I have known some guys who could pull it off.
{three} do you have dish or comcast?
Broadstripe. Our building actually is a Comcast-free zone. Not that Broadstripe is much better, honestly =P

{four} what's your favorite current fashion trend?
Uhmm...high boots with socks? Is that current? I'm not a fashion trend kind of girl. Ooh, maybe rompers...

{five} if you could learn to do anything, money not being an issue, what would it be?
How to fly a plane. Totally!

{six} red or white wine?
White. My palate still isn't sophisticated enough for red, I guess.

{seven} what type of food is your favorite (ex. italian, mexican, etc.)
Hmm...I'd have to say Italian or Japanese. Both are so delicious!

{eight} hp or mac?
Mac forever!

{nine} what color is your bedroom?
Beige? Whatever color the apartment complex painted it. With dark green carpet (ew.)

{ten} what's your favorite form of exercise?
Swimming! Or dancing =)

this is our fate (wee bit wednesday)

It's that time again.
Wee Bit Wednesday!
Link up over with Leigh Ashley!

{one} what was one thing that you valued when you were a kid?
I don't remember really valuing anything -- honestly, I don't remember a lot of specifics about my childhood. But looking back now, I value living in FL and being sent outside to play.

{two} what was your favorite (+ lease favorite) subject in school?
Chorus was always my favorite and Math was always my least favorite. Although, PE in Florida in August also sucked a big one.

{three} do you remember your first love?
Absolutely, he was my chorus teacher's son and I chased him for a year before he would finally date me!

{four} what one pet would you love to have?
Uhm...a real animal? A bush baby! But I also want a dragon ;)

{five} would you rather live in the country or in the city?
I think I'm really a city girl, but I love going out to the country for visits. Traveling as a kid (and beyond) has given me a love of most spaces.

{six} what do you love about blogging?
I love that it helps me remember things that I wouldn't normally remember! And that it connects you to people you never would have met, otherwise. We are not alone =)

{seven} what is the first website you visit everyday?
My google reader and twitter.

{eight} will you or have you joined google+?
I have Google+! Be my friend!

{nine} what is your favorite scent of candle/air freshener?
Clean Linen! Or pretty much anything that smells like clean laundry. I also like pumpkin spice and vanilla.

{ten} how would you describe your style?
This is gonna sound lame, but...me. I wear what's comfortable, no matter what style it fits it. I love it, because it means I can be girly, sporty, vintage, boho...anything!

wee bit wednesday!

Link up for Wee Bit Wednesday with Leigh Ashley!

{one} what is your dream job?
Singing! Or...zookeeper?

{two} how many best friends do you have?
I have different best friends from different parts of my life:

First Best Friend: 4th Grade
Jessica and Me.
(Don't we look super cool? Don't you love my dorky glasses?
Also, this picture is 7th grade, not 4th. But we are still bebes.)

High School BFFs
Leslie, Jessamyn, Megan and Me.
(We were inseparable senior year.
Our friend Jackson dubbed us 'the lifeform.')

College BFFs
Sarah (aka Lala,) Caroline (aka Calalala,) and Me
(so, technically, I gained a lot of best friends through Yahtzee
Jenny, Chris, Travis, Alli, etc, etc, etc...
but these girls are probably the ones I hung out with the most.
Sarah and I were joined at the hip for a while,
and Sarah and Jenny were joined at the hip - still are -
so we wound up being a trio a lot of the time.)

Boston BFFs
Nate, Me and Zoe.
(Yes yes, the one of the left is my boyfran',
but I still consider him one of my best friends from Boston,
because we were good friends even before we started dating.
And that's my Zoe. And I miss her. We used to hang out pretty much every weekend,
drink, sing bad karaoke on demand and play Super Mario Bros. on the Wii.
Until 3 in the morning.
We were cool. YOU HEARD ME. COOL. KIDS.)

{three} what’s the longest road trip you’ve ever taken?
Hah. Hahahaha. Sorry, this question makes me laugh, since I feel like I talk about this a lot. I took a five-month road trip, from New Hampshire to Washington State, via Upstate NY & Niagara Falls, north FL, MN, CO, southern CA and everywhere in between! Check it out, here.

{four} if you had to do one single thing every day for the next year, what would it be?
Hmmm. This is a hard one. I could say go to the gym, cause I'd be ripped but tired. I could say sing, but sometimes your throat just doesn't want that. I could say play the piano, cause then maybe I'd get back up to my old skill level, but...I think I'll have to say eat chocolate! Or read a book ;)

{five} what’s one story your family always tells about you?
My family has more funny stories about my sister than me, but my dad loves to tell the story about how when I was a baby, I stuck a Tabasco sauce top in my mouth and hated it. Hence, I still don't like spicy foods.

{six} how did your parents pick your name?
I believe it was a character either from a book or a tv show at the time. It's also apparently the same name everyone else who had a baby in 1986 chose, because I know a lot of Caitlins (using various spellings.) There were four in my little-kid ballet/tap class.

{seven} what’s the one thing that scares you more than anything?
I get scared by a lot of things. It's called anxiety! Mostly, I am scared of disappointing people, though. Also, clowns. *shudder*

{eight} are you a good cook?
I am an excellent cook, but I am not trained at all. I learn by doing.

{nine} where do you see yourself in 20 years?
Back in Boston after having traveled the world, probably with a kid or dog (or both?)

{ten} what’s your best childhood memory?
I love thinking about the games my friends and I used to play: House on on the back deck (where we added a 1 to our ages, so we were 15, 17 and 18...because you know...teenagers are very adult,) and Fairies under the big tree in my friend Rachel and Hannah's yard. We had a dance where we spun in circles and shrieked. It was pretty awesome. We were cool little kids.

see the sunrise (wee bit wednesday)

It's Wee Bit Wednesday! Link up with Leigh Ashley.

{one} what’s the #1 most played song on your iPod (or whatever you use)?
On my iTunes at work it's Break Your Heart (Taio Cruz ft. Ludacris.) At home it might be something different...but it might not. I think the song I'm listening to the most right now, though, is either Again and Again  (The Bird and the Bee,) Little Bird (Jazzanova ft. Jose James) or Cold War (Janelle Monae.)

{two} what’s your favorite type of exercise?
Swimming or dancing. I hate running and biking, honestly. Elliptical/Full Body Motion isn't too bad. Yoga is okay. But mostly those first two.

{three} what’s your least favorite mode of transportation?
Bus. I hate busses. Anything else, I'm fine with.

{four} if you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what would it be?
I really liked being 21. Old enough to drink legally, young enough to only need a day or so of recovery afterwards. Skinny enough that flirting with the bartender got you free drinks. Huzzah!

{five} when you have 30 minutes of free time, what do you use it to do?
Read or play around on the internet =)

{six} what do you miss the most about being a kid?
The lack of responsibility. That’s the only thing that semi-sucks about being an adult. I wish I could go back to not having to worry about things.

{seven} when was the last time you were nervous?
Probably yesterday, when I had to call Travel for our Creative VP. Travel is very nice, but I get nervous calling pretty much anyone.

{eight} what was the first thing you bough with your own money when you were young?
Uhm...no idea? Possibly my American Girl doll, Molly. I remember having to save for her.

{nine} what is your favorite month of the year?
March! It's my birthday month, and it's when things usually start warming up again.

{ten} what are 3 songs from the soundtrack of your life?
The Luckiest (Ben Folds,) Slow Dancing in a Burning Room (John Mayer,) October (Eric Whitacre.) I have so many more, though!

moving from left to right (wee bit wednesday)

Wee Bit Wednesday is hosted by Leigh Ashley! Link up in the fun =)

{one} what color best describes you + why?
Green. Possibly because it's my favorite, but also because I think it is spunky while still having depth.

{two} how have you changed in the past year?
I think I've become more confident, in the past year or so. I've always been able to act confident, but settling into my new job and being in a completely new city has actually upped my confidence in my abilities, which is great!

{three} have you ever had any surgeries?
I had bunyon correction surgery (because I'm an old lady) during Christmas break of my Junior year on my right foot. I also had my wisdom teeth removed -- all of them, pesky little buggers -- during college. That's it.

{four} why did you start your blog?
Because I have a horrible memory for the little stuff, and I want to actually be able to look back and see what I did and how I was feeling during my life.

{five} what are you looking forward to this summer?
Sunshine!

{six} do you have any family traditions for the 4th of July?
We used to go visit friends that had lakes and stuff, but mostly it's just setting off dinky fireworks in the street. Hoorah!

{seven} what’s something new that you’ve tried in the past few months?
Hmm...I try new things a lot, but I haven't tried anything substantial recently I don't think?

{eight} what is the perfect a/c temperature?
That's hard, because it depends. AC usually makes me too cold after being in it for a while. I'd say maybe 72?

{nine} what was the last movie you saw in the theater?
Insidious. It. was. AWFUL. (That reminds me of the way Natalie Portman says that in Garden State.)

{ten} what song do you think everyone should hear at least once?
The Luckiest - Ben Folds. Do it NOOOOOOOOW.

Gonna go watch Game 7 after work. We are on the wrong coast for this, and I don't much care about hockey, but....Go Bruins!

i can't wait (wee bit wednesday)

Want to do it to? Make sure to link up, over at Leigh Ashley's!

{one} how many times have you been a bridesmaid/maid of honor?

Hmm...none. My friends hate me. Actually that's a complete lie, none of my close close friends have gotten married (or even engaged, save one) yet!

{two} what’s the last thing your do before you fall asleep at night?

Usually it's either kiss Nate (you have my permission to groan) or check my phone. I do both, in one or order or the other.

{three} you just won your dream vacation, all expenses paid. where are you going?
Oh man, this is hard. I love many places, but I'll say Egypt, because I haven't been there yet and I really want to go someday!

{via}

{four} what is your favorite outdoor activity?
I love being outdoors in general, but I'm big on swimming. Only if the water isn't freezing, however.

{five} as a child, what did you want to “be when you grew up”? did you end up there?
I don't think I actually wanted to grow up, but at various points I wanted to be an archaeologist and a veterinarian. I've also contemplated being an author, but that would require me to finish something I start writing (besides blog posts.) I still want to be a movie star or a famous singer, but I don't know how attainable those goals are. Especially since I'm not really working at them...

(silly singing picture)

(for real singing picture)

{six} what are 3 things your dream home would have that you don’t currently have?
The most giant and beautiful room of a shower ever known to man. A pool and hot tub. An awesome kitchen with gas stove. (I think these things are totally doable, right?)

{via}

{seven} what’s for dinner tonight?
No clue. Pasta? Maybe with peas. And green beans? We don't have much left in the house, because Nate is already gone and I'm about to be gone for 5 days.

{eight} if someone stopped by your house unannounced on a typical Saturday night, what would they find you doing?
Prob watching TV/movies or playing on the computer. Sometimes we might be drinking. Almost always eating!
{nine} what’s your average monthly water bill?
We don't pay water, our apartment building does. It's a good thing, too. =P
{ten} what do you do to relax?
Read. Sometimes I'll listen to music and play on the computer, but mostly my downtime is spent with my kindle. Or possibly in the shower -- so relaxing =)

wee bit wednesday (a wee bit late)

It's Thursday, so sue me, but my nose is dripping like a faucet and my eyes are all itchy. Afrin is a miraculous drug that lets me sleep at night and breathe through my nose, but in return it has opened the floodgates. Lame.

(as always, you can link up over at LeighAshley's...but that's kind of in the past, now ;)

{one} what’s the worst date you’ve ever been on?
I haven't ever really been on a bad date. I've been on dates where I knew by the end of it that I didn't want to see the person in that capacity again, but I've never had anyone treat me badly. And I've never been out with someone that I just completely didn't connect with, so...sorry?

{two} if you could be any other person for one day, who would it be?
Natalie Portman. Because she's awesome. Or maybe my sister, so I could understand her better.

{three} what is your favorite kind of cheese?
ANYTHING. No really, I just love cheese. I am partial to cow's milk over goat's milk cheeses, though.

{four} do you remember your 1st grade teacher?
Absolutely, as she was probably one of my most influential teachers -- though, I guess that seems a strange thing to say about someone who taught mini-me. She was the first person to get me on a stage; the first person to recognize that ability in me. I was Peter Pan at age 7, check it. Thanks, Ms. Wilson! (She was the principal of my old elementary school, now I think she's on the school board. She was mostly just awesome.) I remember planting a butterfly garden and making icecream in plastic bags in her class. Totally random? Yup.

{five} who is the first person you call when you have a bad day?
Nate or my mom.

{six} were you ever in a school talent show?
Mmm...I don't think my school ever really had a talent show, but I was in plenty of school showcases from elementary school through high school. Plus, I started performing with theatre when I was in 4th grade. I think that should count.

{seven} who is your favorite fictional character?
Captain Jack Sparrow. I am also a fan of a lot of Star Trek characters. Especially Picard and Janeway.

{eight} can you open your eyes underwater?
When I don't have my contacts in. But then I can't see, so what's the point? (I definitely could before I started wearing glasses/contacts, as long as it was a pool and not the ocean. Saltwater = pain.)

{nine} do you look at the keyboard when you type?
Usually when I start typing -- mainly because I don't actually type with the correct fingers on the correct keys, so I have to have some kind of starting point. This is true on the piano, too.

{ten} when was the last time you took a nap?
Uhm...last weekend? I'm not a very good nap-taker, though. They usually turn into nap-a-thons, where I'm asleep for several hours. The word 'power-nap' is not in my vocabulary. =P

maybe that's how books get written (wee bit wednesdays!)

(link up at Leigh Ashley's)

{one} do you watch the history channel? if so, what’s your favorite program?
yup! I think Nate likes it more than I do, though. he was a Pawn Stars addict, for a while. I enjoy a good American Pickers and special on some strange point in world history, though.

{two} what is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
depends. i love just sitting inside and reading, but there are so many rainy days here, they've kind of lost their novelty =P

{three} what does your dream house look like?
Nate and I were talking about this the other day, and I don't really know. But it would be pretty cool to live in a giant Victorian with secret passages! And a turret -- I would like my house to have a turret, thanks.
{four} what state were you born in?
Florida.

{five} do you have a change jar? if so, what do you use it for when it gets full?
We have change in a candle that we punched a slit in the top of. It's...uhm...crafty?

{six} what’s the first website you look at when you get on the computer?
Usually Twitter or Facebook. Sometimes my Google Reader, or my Blogger dashboard.

{seven} what is your favorite breakfast?
Over-Medium Eggs, Wheat Toast, Hashbrowns or Country Potatoes with Cheese, Onions and Mushrooms and a side of Cheese Grits. Oh, and bacon.

{eight} what’s the most memorable trip you’ve ever taken?
Probably the 5-month road trip across the US, though I have many memorable trips. I loved Ireland.

{nine} do you prefer your coffee black or with cream/milk/sugar?
I prefer it tasting like coffee ice cream, so lots of cream and sugar. And flavoring.

{ten} have you ever done a professional photo shoot?
Kind of? I took a modeling class when I was in high school, so we had several shoots with professional photographers during that. I wish I knew where my proofs were now. =P

into my soul (wee bit wednesday)

Link up over at Leigh Ashley's!

{one} what profession have you always admired?
Teaching. mainly because I have absolutely no desire to do it. It seems hard and thankless.

{two} what would the title of your memoir/biography be if it was written today?
It's All About Balance

{three} how far do you commute to work?
15 minutes, walking.
{four} are your earlobes attached or detached?
detached.
{five} do you eat the unpopped kernels of popcorn at the bottom of the bag?
No, they're too hard. (I feel like that's a strange thing for an ice-chewer to say.)

{six} what is the strangest gift you’ve ever received?
I've gotten many strange gifts, but maybe The Batman Handbook? I mean... I like Batman and all, but I don't want to be Batman.

{seven} what is one tv show that you wish hadn’t been cancelled?
Sports Night. Also, Freaks and Geeks.
{eight} what is something that you are saving money for right now?
Hmm...we're supposed to be saving money to pay off debt. But we've been bad at saving, so far.

{nine} what hobby would you like to take up?
Lots of them. Sewing and crafting in general I'd love to get into. I'd also love to get back into horseback riding, or windsurfing. Or rock climbing. I would like my life to be all about hobbies, instead of being all about work.

{ten} how many times a year do you get really dressed up?
Not..very often. Sometimes for birthdays. Sometimes for anniversaries. But are we talking, like, gowns? Because I'm pretty sure I haven't worn a gown since my Senior Recital...in high school. Unless you count our Winter Formal for SAI.

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

you can't be too careful anymore (wee bit wednesday)

Link up here, with Leigh Ashley!

{one} when was the last time you used a pay phone (if ever)?
uhm....high school? I think my first cellphone was 10th grade, so probably 9th grade. to call my Dad to come pick me up. because I was too lazy to walk the mile and a half home. And there was a giant hill between my house and school!

{two} did you ever fail a subject in school?
yes and no. I never failed because I didn't do the work, but I did almost fail Algebra II in high school because of absences. I did fail swimming my last semester of college, because I just stopped going for a while. But it was a pass/fail class, so it didn't affect my GPA or nothin'.

{three} where do you go to get your favorite hamburger/cheeseburger?
I'm a Wendy's girl, through and through. I'm also a fan of Krystal. Honestly, I like fast food burgers better than homemade/restaurant burgers..but I think that just because they no longer taste like ground beef. I'm not a big beef person in general. Unless you're talking about Poe's in Charleston, SC. Their burgers are delectable.

{four} have you ever served jury duty?
Nope, never even been summond. I think I move to much. (excuse me while I knock on wood.)

{five} how old were you when you moved out of your parents’ house?
I moved into the dorm my first year of college, stayed there for my second. Then I moved into a townhouse, but wound up moving back home halfway through the year. I moved out the summer after and haven't look back since, besides a small period of time between my lease ending Tallahassee in August and my lease in Boston not starting until September.

{six} what is your favorite color to wear?
Green or teal. I also like purple on me. I have a collection of favorite colors to wear, not really just one. But I guess, green.

{seven} do you have a pair of shoes that you wear all the time?
I love my Toms, and wear them as much as possible. I also have a pair of zebra-stripe metallic flats from target that are my go-to work shoes.

{eight} do you enjoy talk radio?
Depends. I enjoy Car Talk and things like This American Life, Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me and All Songs Considered, but I don't listen to them on a regular basis. And I have no desire to listen to anything news-related on the radio.

{nine} if you could turn one unhealthy food into a healthy one, what food would it be?
Pretty much anything junky. I love junk food. Maybe Coke, though, that's a drink. How about...cinnamon rolls!

{ten} who is the best speaker you’ve ever heard in person?
I've heard Stephen Colbert speak live, and that was awesome. Honestly, I'm not much one for speeches. I get distracted -- I guess I'm just a bad listener.

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

the times we had (wee bit wednesday)

Link up over at Leigh Ashley's blog!

{one} have you ever been stuck in an elevator?
nope!

{two} have you ever ridden on an elephant?
no. it's definitely on my life list, though. along with riding on a camel!

{three} have you ever met a well known celebrity?
Jessica Biel! She hung out at my house!
I've also met Tony Hale (Arrested Development) and Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm/RV) because they are from my home town and went to my theatre -- way before I did -- so they would come back to visit. I also went to theatre with Allison Miller (Kings) and have sung with Anoop Desai (American Idol) via a cappella in college. Do they count?
Ooh, I was also super-close to getting to meet Ben Folds, because my a cappella group from college was one of the ones contacted about being on his a cappella CD he put out. But it wound up Florida was too far for him to fly to record. And because it was after I'd graduated, I didn't get to open for his show in Florida with the current (at the time) group, so I didn't get to meet him. Wah.

{four} do you have any food allergies?
Not really. My skin is irritated by citrus juice, though?

{five} do you know how to sew?
I used to, when I was younger. I took sewing classes when I was in elementary/middle school, and sewed some with my Aunt when we visisted her, but I haven't really sewed since then.

{six} did you get an allowance when you were young?
I used to get $20 a week in high school (before I started driving) to spend on lunch. I usually brought lunch, though, so I wound up spending it on snacks and drinks after school. Mostly, though, I was out of the house so much that my parents gave me money for things like gas (whether it was mine or paying someone else) and food, since theatre and chorus took up so much of my time.

{seven} how often do you fill up your gas tank?
Not very often. We don't drive the car very often, anymore.

{eight} have you ever been stung by a jelly fish?
Yup, but not a bad sting. It mostly just itches.
{nine} have you ever been robbed?
Yes. When I was in high school, I had my phone and wallet taken off a table at FunStation. More recently, our house was broken into while we were living in MA and they stole a lot of things -- my laptop, the Wii & games, my Gameboy, my jewelry. They didn't take my Kindle, though, or the PS2 or my iPod dock. It was strange and probably one of the worst memories I have. (Sorry for reminding you, Nate.)
{ten} what is the worst haircut you’ve ever had?
I don't think I've ever had a bad haircut. I did have a cut I didn't really like in 10th grade, but that's because the made me cut it off for a play -- not because it looked bad or anything. I also had a short cut my junior year of college that I wound up not loving, but that's just because I decided I don't like my face shape with short hair.

delicious cocoa (wee bit wednesday)

{one} how often do you do laundry?
Usually once a week, because I'm picky about having choices as to what to wear...even though I tend to wear the same things a lot. Especially when they're new. Or comfy. Or both =) Sometimes I can stretch it to two weeks, if I'm feeling adventurous.

{two} what is your favorite type of cookie?
Peanut butter with chocolate chips? But Milano cookies are really good, too. And chocolate chip. Ooh, and those shortbread cookies that come in the blue tin! I like cookies...

{three} what would you do with an extra $2000 per month?
Get a gym membership and pay off credit card debt. And probably get a few new articles of clothing each month, to try and build up my wardrobe. It's lacking.

{four} what was/is your favorite subject in school?
Music. I guess that isn't fair, because I then majored in it. I also enjoyed my Anthropology of Religion class in college, but that may have been because of the professor and his nutty tangents.

{five} have you ever ridden in a hot air balloon?
No, but I think it would be really cool. Except that I also think I am afeared of heights (more specifically not being strapped in at heights) so that might be a problem. But I definitely want to do it at least once.

{six} what was your high school mascot?
A lion! His name was Leon. Leon the Lion. And we were the Leon Lions. Original, huh?

{seven} if you had the chance to go into space, would you?
Absolutely. I want to live in the Star Trek universe. But I'd settle for colonizing Mars. I'm not sure I have the skill sets they're really looking for in that instance, though..

{eight} how often do you go dancing?
Oh man. Not very often anymore, since we have no money and I'm a sleepyhead who gets tired around 11pm. But back in Boston we went dancing a lot and in college, I was a dance machine.

{nine} would you rather drive or fly?
I love doing both, so it depends on the trip. Really any way to travel is fine by me. I'll take a boat, train, plane or car.

{ten} have you ever been caught re-gifting?
Hah. No. Mainly cause I don't re-gift. I either keep something or get rid of it, but I don't know that I've ever given it to someone else.

(wanna do this to? head over to Leigh Ashley's blog and link up!)

(p.s. sorry for the lack of actual updates, but all i've done for the past couple days is work, cook and sleep. and by "cook" i mean, make pasta and shovel it down my gaping maw. it happens. also...like my new sig?)
