In an effort to keep up with everything that's going on at work and in my personal life, I've been kind of ignoring the internet. Oops.
I've been swamped at work (welcome back from a three day weekend, here's a three foot stack of PAPER,) and despite getting an extra day last weekend, I was left feeling drained and not ready to be sitting at my desk again. Very frustrating.
Saturday was great -- we hung out with our friends Matt and Meghan and Meghan's brother Andrew all day. We were going to go to Alki, but it was super crowded and windy, so we went to Whale Tail Park, just a couple blocks from the beach and played Frisbee, Bocce and cards for several hours. Afterwards we grabbed a delicious dinner at an Irish bar nearby, then took a quick break for people to shower and change before heading back to Pioneer Square to go to 88 Keys and watch some dueling pianos.
Sunday and Monday were just boring. We shopped for some necessary stuff. We did try a new breakfast place on Monday down by Pike Place. It was good food, but they were understaffed and overpriced for small portions. We didn't get refills on our coffee, even though we asked for them. Kind of frustrating.
It just goes to show that my body really likes it when I eat well, exercise and sleep, and really doesn't like it when I eat poorly, don't exercise, don't sleep and have two drinks. Two drinks? Gosh, I must be fun =P
Despite getting in bed by, like, 10:30PM this week, I still feel like I can't catch up, sleep-wise. We don't have air conditioning in our apartment, and despite the windows being open to allow the breeze in and the fact that it gets down into the 50s at night, the heat has been causing me to not sleep very well. I started to feeling like I was getting sick yesterday -- I had a bit of a sore throat and a nasty headache last night -- but I feel okay this morning, so I'm going to chalk it up to dehydration, the "heat wave" we've had in Seattle (by heat wave, I mean it's been above 80*. I know that's not hot, believe me.) messing with my sleep cycle and the fact that we've been trying not to buy food before we go to LA this weekend, so we haven't been eating as well.
These next few weeks are going to be kind of jam-packed. We are leaving tomorrow at 7:15AM to visit my friend Chris, and getting back in at 9:15PM on Sunday. We have Monday to ourselves, then Nate's family (mother, father and sister,) are staying with us for a week. Then we have three weeks until Nate's friend, Zach comes to visit. Then three weeks until my cousin comes to Seattle. Then a couple weeks til Thanksgiving (during which time, we will -- most likely -- either be traveling to FL or northern CA.) Then a month til Christmas, which we'll be traveling to Baltimore for. We get to stay for a week and a half, though, so I'm ok with it.)
I love the holidays, and I'm excited to see family and take some time off from work.
