We've done well so far, though, I know it's only Wednesday, but just like keeping track. We had our appointment on Monday. It was a shorter workout, because we weighed-in and talked for about half of it. But the second half we used the TRX and I am a weakling.
Then, on Tuesday, we did a mix of cardio and abs that Dawn handed us when we walked in (she works most evenings 3-8, so we see her pretty much every time we go in.) She did this even though we haven't actually figured out if we can do extra training sessions with her aside from the free once a month the gym gives us. It's a money thing.
I wanted to talk about our Monday appointment with Dawn, our personal trainer.
Firstly, she is the nicest person in the WHOLE WORLD.
Secondly, we have been going to the gym for a couple months now. We exercise (usually) at least three days a week: a mix of cardio and strength. We walk to and from work; sometimes also at lunch. We eat (mostly) healthily -- we do tend to ignore that on weekends, but we still try not to overeat. I drink a ton of water (I can't say the same for Nate.) However, we haven't really been losing weight. I gained some muscle right off, but then it kind of stalled out. The weird thing about this is I feel thinner -- probably because I am thinner than when we first moved here -- and I feel healthier. My clothes fit better. Dawn suggestions were as follows:
- eat less carbs
- eat more
The second one kind of grabbed me. I am not at all obsessive about food -- if I'm hungry I eat. I try to determine if I'm eating emotionally and not do that. I do not deny myself things (unless it's a fifth or sixth cookie.) But I have been using My Fitness Pal to keep my calorie intake right above 1200 (which is the daily minimum anyone is supposed to eat EVER to be healthy.) So now, we are making an effort to keep me at 1500 intake and between 200-300 deficit and Nate around 2000 with a 300-500 deficit. We feel like these are totally doable and, for our body types, a manageable amount. But eating more means being hungry more. And I'd gotten use to not wanting to eat every hour or so. Phooey. Back to old habits, I guess! Just with less Coke and chips, and more carrots, nuts and light mozzarella sticks.
Goodbye, last 10-15 pounds! I will (not) miss you!
