knock, knock, knock (ten on tuesday)

It's Ten on Tuesday time! Head on over to Roots and Rings if you want to do it, too.

1. What colour are your toenails painted?
They aren't. I am bad at getting pedicures because I'm super ticklish -- like, I can tickle my own feet (no, really) -- and bad at painting my own nails, so they go au naturale.

2. What colour are your fingernails painted?
Sparkly purple!

3. What is your favourite brand of nail polish?
OPI stays on me the best. But I enjoy Essie's colors.

4. As the norm, do you DIY your nails or get mani/pedis?
Not anymore. I got spoiled working at a nail salon and having my nails done by professionals.

5. Have you ever had a gel mani?
I have one right now. They're pretty much the only kind I get any more, because I can't keep regular polish on my nails for more than three or four days. And, since I don't have the perks of having them done (or money to pay sometime to have them done) every week, I get the gel. If I'm careful about my nails, they can last three weeks!

6. What is the last movie you watched on television?
Started watching Castaway on Saturday morning? I don't know that I've watched a movie all the way through on TV in a while. Most of the time I catch things in the middle. And if I really want to watch something, I just go find it on Apple TV.

7. What is the last movie you watched in the cinema?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II (in 3D...wooh.)

8. Is there a movie that everyone talks about as if it is a classic but you haven’t seen?
I have lots of these, apparently, but I've been working my way through them. Most recently we watched Schindler's List. Now we're still working our way through Amadeus. I think next will be Amistad.

9. What is your favourite movie soundtrack?
This is hard because mostly, I just love everything Hans Zimmer does, namely Pirates of the Caribbean (especially the 'He's a Pirate' theme.) But, I am also a fan of John Williams (even if he is a plagiarist.) And I very much enjoy the themes from the first (Michael Bay) Transformers movie.

10. Have you ever seen a movie and thought it was better than the book it was based on?
Not that I can think of off the top of my head, but I do think that certain movies are just as good as the books they were based on. Fight Club, I think, is an example of this, mainly because the movie is almost verbatim the book. Usually, though, you have to look at them as completely separates medias. A book can't do what a movie can do, and vice versa.

As a side note for this last question: I really love the soundtrack aspect of movies, which you don't get in books. I used to pick a CD, usually a movie soundtrack/instrumental piece, to listen to while reading books, so that they could have a soundtrack. The first Harry Potter soundtrack makes me think of reading Clan of the Cave Bear. This sometimes makes books a more encompassing experience for me. I don't do it as much anymore, though.
